With snow falling as late as last weekend, people are beginning to wonder if spring will ever come, and if tracks across New England will be ready to open. Have no fear Bear Ridge Speedway “the fastest dirt track in Vermont” is moving full throttle ahead, as we finally are able to get into the track and start preparations for 2018 our 51st consecutive season of racing.
The “99ROCK wyfrd” Weekly Racing Series is taking shape as well with registrations coming in daily. If the number of applications already received is any indication of what they year holds in store for us, we can expect a banner year of competitors in all divisions. With a lot of drivers suddenly realizing they are out of time to get their cars ready, they often forget until practice day to get in those applications, so we are expecting a bumper crop of apps over the next few weeks. Drivers if you haven’t gotten your app in yet, why not take a break from getting and get your paperwork in, to save time and waiting in line on practice and opening days!
With Derek Graham set to defend his title in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds this is going to be the division to watch, as there ae many hungry drivers who would love to be able to dethrone him. Will Ryan Christian be able to make this the year, competing in two divisions weekly Christian has had plenty of seat time at the Ridge and is definitely a strong contender. Will Richie Simmons finally be able to have the year of his dreams and knock them both out of the park? Don’t forget about Terry Williams and Robert Tucker, both drivers who would make fine and worthy champs. The competition will start on May 5th and escalate weekly until championship night September 22, so be sure to mark your calendar as “Busy at the Ridge” to see how these exciting battles pan out.
The Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes numbers are coming in really strong and there are sure to be some fierce battles there as well.
