So many weeks of getting ready to race and to end up not racing made the perfect night for racing weather-wise but felt like a full moon event. The effects of the pent-up anticipation to take a turn around the track were felt across all the regular 99Rock weekly racing series divisions.
As the R.E. Hinkley (when at the Ridge) Granite State Mini Sprints 600cc’s hit the track the skys opened with yet another shower of rain.
In the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds “Mr. August” finally gets his first win of the season almost a year from his last one, punching his ticket into the end of year Growler event. Todd Buckwold was able to take advantage of his starting position and survive some early lap mayhem to get the win. As the laps ticked off, your current points leader Jason Gray worked his way to the front of the pack and with a handful of laps left looked like he might have a chance to take the point away from Buckwold. Buckwold held on and at the photo finish crossed the line just ahead of Gray. Kyle Huntington with his strong performance joined the two in victory lane his second trip of the season. Brian Chaffee and Max Dolliver completed the top five.
It was the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes to make up some of their lost features for the season. With all the drivers getting scored with starting in all the features there was plenty of racing excitement for the fans. Feature make up one has Josh Harrington crossing the line ahead of Michael Danforth and Tim Hodge. Todd hayward and Matt Ellsworth completed your top five. Feature make up two goes to your current points leader Ryan Christian with the willy veteran Bob Shepard taking second, and Todd Hayward in third. Josh Harrington and Tim Hodge finished out your top five. Ali Pushee is scored the winner in feature make up three punching his card into the end of season growler. Cody Gregoropoulos is second with Matt Ellsworth in third. Tim Hodge and Tad Kingsbury completed the top five. For the regular scheduled event of the night for the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes Tim Hodge is declared the winner with Todd Hayword in second and Matt Ellsworth joining the pair in victory lane in third. Ryan Christian and Josh Harrington completed your top five.
The Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets were OFF and return to action on August 19th.
Matt Lashua doing triple duty had his best luck in the High-Country Dispensary Late Models taking home his fifth win of the season. Rob French and Rob Rugg joined him in victory lane in the order across the line, with Kelly Miller Sr and Tyler Tremblay completing the top five.
Aren Keene gets his first win of his career in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks beating out Tyler Trembley who crosses the line in second and Bryan King third, who finally gets back to victory lane. Hunter Garduno and Garret Brown would be scored fourth and fifth, but a post-race inspection disqualified Garduno, moving Brown up to fourth and Chris Murray back in a Dirt Stock scored in fifth.
It is coming down to a battle of the fittest in the points for the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners as Logan Martin, Spencer Braley and Travis King swap the top position seemingly weekly. This week at the end of the battle King finds himself in victory lane in the third-place position and at the end of the night king of the hill in the points battle by one. The feature win goes to Logan Martin keeping him strongly in the point hunt now sitting in third with Spencer Braley last week’s point leader finishing the feature in second and falling to second in points by one to King. Hayden Bishop and Daegan Spinks rounded out the top five.
In the R.E. Hinkley (when at the Ridge) Granite State Mini Sprints Ed Vickery is beaten out for the win by Rob Williams who is no stranger to the Ridge, having raced in the Ridge Runner class several years ago. Ella Gisleson joined the pair in victory lane in the 500cc class. Josh Wright and Morgan Macintyre rounded out the top five. In the 600cc class it was Justin Burr for the win with Ryan Green and Jake Koponen joining him in victory lane. Mark Reynolds and Kyle Belliveau rounded out the top five. The R.E. Hinkley Granite State Mini Sprints will return to the Ridge on August 12th.
Coming up this Saturday August 12th sponsored by Swenson Insurance Inc, it is TOPLESS night and KIDS BIKE RACES plus the Bradford Bull Dogs Benefit night and a full card of racing for the 99Rock weekly Racing Series divisions Sabil and Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, High Country Dispensary Late Models, LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks, and the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners. Plus back to back appearances as the (when at the Ridge) R.E. Hinkley Granit State Mini Sprints are in the house. Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets OFF return to action July 22nd. At the time of the press management is still waiting to hear if we will be able to have a make up event for the VP Racing Fuels DIRTcar Sportsman East series which was rained on out July 29th. If we do get the go ahead this will be a special admission show. The price of a special show general admission (front gate) ticket for adults (ages 17 to 61) is $15.00 a person. Seniors 62 and older $15.00. Teens 12 to 16 WITH a paying adult $15.00, and children 11 and under WITH a paying Adult $2.00.
