Tim Hodge is the overall MADNESS winner in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes
Andrew Fitzgerald triple crown winner in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks
57th consecutive season of racing at Bear Ridge week 14
For Immediate Release 08032024-1
Week fourteen feature winners of the 57th consecutive season sponsored by Walker Motor Sales Inc were Jason Gray in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes: Feature one Michael Danforth Jr, Feature two Jason Gray, Feature three Todd Hayward, overall Tim Hodge; the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets were OFF, Kelly Miller Sr. in the High Country Dispensary Late Models; LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Andrew Fitzgerald, Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners Randy Morrill, and for the R.E. Hinkley Granite State Mini Sprints 500cc Josh Ball, Jacob Green 600cc.
Jason Gray steadily creeps ahead in the points standings and his quest for a fifth straight championship in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds as he scored his fourth win of the season. Gray appears to be unstoppable in his quest leaving Max Dolliver scratching his head as he slowly watches his chance of dethroning Gray slip away. This week Dolliver would cross the line two spots behind Gray in third with Mike Ryan able to hold on to his starting position making it to victory lane in second. Tad Kingsbury and last week’s feature winner coming from the last qualifying spot DJ Robinson rounded out the top five.
It was madness night for the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes and with the biggest payday in the history of Bear Ridge Speedway of over sixteen thousand dollars, there was a bit of madness on the track. Three thirty-five lap features would go down in the record books, but not without a bit of struggle. One could say it was the money or maybe the oppressive humidity but after an hour the first feature was officially in the record books with Michael Danforth grabbing the win. The following features went off a bit more smoothly with the boys and gal settling down a bit. Jason Gray beat out Danforth for the second feature win. Todd Hayward was able to come back from a DNF in the first feature to take home the third checkers, beating out Ricky Sanville who also struggled in feature one. For the madness events victory lane is determined by the best overall of the three events. Tim Hodge goes to victory lane with an overall score of nine points and his third feature/segment finish of third putting him first. Michael Danforth makes it there with an overall score of nine points and his third feature/segment finish of sixth putting him second. Jason Gray earned the final victory lane spot with an overall score of ten points.
The Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets were off and will return to action on August 10th.
Kelly Miller Sr continues to dominate in the High-Country Dispensary Late Models racking up his fifth win of the season beating out Todd Dunham at the line. Matt Lashua back in action after missing a week joins the due in victory lane third, with Scott Heath and Tim Higgins completing the top five.
The second triple crown of the season is officially in the record books as Andrew Fitzgerald makes it a clean sweep in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks. The coveted crown is awarded at the annual awards banquet and is earned by winning your heat race, the Sting Vintage Race Cars Buster Kathan Dash for Cash and the main event all on the same night. Fitgerald coming from mid pack in his heat and feature was able to beat out the field to earn the award. Fitgerald had to hold off Mike McClay who didn’t let him just walk away with the feature win and found himself crossing the line in second. Keith Mansur joined the pair in victory lane taking home third. Aren Keen and Matt Pike rounded out the top five.
In the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners, the victory lane photos depict a different finish than the final outcome, with the first to take the checkers Travis Burroughs failing the post-race inspection. This would move Randy Morrill to the first spot with Kevin LaForest in second and Travis King scored in third. Katie Burroughs and Kelly Miller Jr completed the top five.
The Joe Mama’s Sporting Goods 4’6 Cylinder Enduro will return to action on Saturday August 31st.
The R.E. Hinkley Granite State Mini Sprints were in the house with their Lenny West Memorial. Twenty-six machines would be on hand for the two classes with Josh Ball scoring the win in the 500cc. Tyler Vickery and Nicolas Tosi joined him in victory lane Morgan Macintyre and Bentley Robbins rounded out the top five. In the 600cc Jacob Green is your winner with Mark Wiggett coming home in second and Luke Hinkley in third. Chase Rogers and Josh Ball doing double duty completed the top five. The R.E. Hinkley Granite State Mini Sprints will return for one more night of action in 2024 on September 7th.
