Bear Ridge Speedway’s 7th event of 50th season of racing.
For Immediate Release BRS-062417-1
State Farm Mike Estrada 4/6 cylinder enduro, WYKR Sprint Cars of New England, and the 99Rock weekly racing divisions offered plenty of racing excitement on Wells River Savings Bank night at the Ridge.
The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds had a hard time this week getting out of their own way. It is hard to grasp sometimes how a division one week can go green to checkers with no incident and then the following week struggle to get in the first lap. The cautions gave the middle and the back of the field added opportunities to get from where they started to the front of the pack. When the checkers finally waved Trevor Rocke was the first one across the line. He would have to forfeit his win after he failed a post race tech inspection. This would give Robert Tucker the win as he crossed the line behind Rocke and Jordan Fornwalt would be the official runner up. Todd Buckwold was scored in third with Richie Simmons and Terry Williams completing the top five.
Another Rookie is scored the winner in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. Tyler Stygles Tyler Stygles no stranger to the Ridge having raced in Late Models for several years, made the jump to the Coupes this year. Having taken a bit to get used to the change Stygles handicap put him in a prime position to start the race. Starting from the pole Stygles had the handling just the way he needed it to hold off the full field of hungry drivers behind. When the checkers waved on their 30-lap main event he was still at the point and able to claim his first win in the coupes. Brian Chaffee coming from the sixth row was able to make his way up to second, but would have to settle for that position when the checkers waved. Joining them in victory was Gene Pierson. Brother Melvin crossed the line in fourths with Steve Ellsworth taking home fifth.
The Laquerre’s Sports USAC DMA Midgets were off and will be returning on July 1st.
Wayland Childs and Ryan Christian are now tied for wins as Childs beat Christian out to score his fourth of the season. Christian crosses in second with John Neddo taking home third. Bryan Campbell and Kevin Dickinson completed the top five in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models.
The Weglarz Property Service see Buddy Welch grab another win with Bobby Bell and Steve Bell joining him in victory lane. Jason Porter and Jesse Durkee rounded out the top five.
The second of the season State Farm Mike Estrada 4/6 Enduro ended the night with seventy five laps of racing excitement for the packed house. James Shufelt starting from the second row on the grid got to the front quickly and then began to pick off the competition putting them laps down one at a time. When the checkers waved there would be only three others with him on the lead lap as he crossed he line first to grab the checkers. Kevin LaForest crossed the line second .752 seconds behind with Thomas Chaffee in third. Frank Putney came home in fourth with Erik Lindbled completing the top five.
For the WYKR Sprint Cars of New England all eyes were on Ryan Avery. Avery was able to hold off Will Hull for the win with Steven Hutchinson coming home in third. Scott Holcomb and Kevin Chaffee completed the top five.
