Hall of Famer Grandpa Gene Celebrates as both his grandsons win their feature events
Michael Danforth in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes
Ashton Pierson in the DIRTcar Sabil and Sons Sportsman Modifieds
57th consecutive season of racing at Bear Ridge week 9.
For Immediate Release BRS-06302024-1
With week 8 rained out and the best fireworks display in the Upper Valley on the docket, management made the decision to run the event on Sunday after Saturday was a total wash out. There was plenty of fireworks both on the track and in the sky for all the fans who turned out for a great night of racing.
Week nine feature winners of the 57th consecutive season sponsored by Pellerin Automotive, Autobody, and Autoparts were Ashton Pierson in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Michael Danforth in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; Brandon Piastka in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets, High Country Dispensary Late Models OFF, LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Aren Keene, Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners Kelly Miller Jr. SCoNE Chase Moran, and the Pellerin Pro Fours Tyler Stark.
Ashton Pierson, son of Adam Pierson a former Bear Ridge competitor and grandson of Gene Pierson gets his first win in his career in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. Pierson had to hold off the hard-fought challenges of Mike Ryan who has not had a win since the beginning of season 2022. Ryan would have to settle for second as he had to defend his position with Max Dolliver banging on his door, as he continues his quest to dethrone the king Jason Gray. Robert Tucker and Tad Kingsbury rounded out your top five with Gray only able to get up to sixth.
Grandpa Gene got to watch it happen all over again in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes as his second grandson competing at the Ridge had to work his way thru traffic to get to the front and take the lead beating out Cody Gregoropoulos for his second win of the season. Last year’s champion joined the pair in victory lake taking home third. Jason Horniak and rookie Rob Williams, with best performance of the year rounded out the top five. With mid-season just two weeks away the points battle in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes is shaping up to be a doozy with only ten points separating the top three.
With the absence of Justin Sheridan in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets the points battle took a quick change with the third in points after the last event suddenly finding himself on top of the hill after his second-place finish for the night. Manny Dias was unable to get by Brandon Piastka who claimed his second win of the season with brother Daniel Piastka taking home third. Chris Murray continues to work his way back up the chart after a dismal opening night took home fourth with Keith Brown scoring his best finish of the year completing the top five.
The High-Country Dispensary Late Models were off and return to action on July 13th.
Aren Keene holds of the stiff competition in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks to beat out John Fields and Andrew Fitzgerald for his first win of the season. Matt Pike and last week’s feature winner Keith Mansur who came from the last qualifying spot rounded out the top five.
It only took eight weeks and two complete rounds for a triple crown to finally be realized, and the honors go to Kelly Miller Jr in the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners with his win of his heat race, the dash for cash and the divisions main event. With a little bit of space between him and the heavy hitters in the division he was able to see the checkers first and beat out your current points leader Kevin LaForest who crossed the line in second and the hard charger Zach Audet taking home the final victory lane spot. Tim Morrill and Taylor Sayers in his first appearance of the year rounded out the top five.
The Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) were in the house with twenty machines hoping to take the green on their twenty-five-lap main event. Some rough action in the heat races would take out two of the contenders. At the end of their trek around the Ridge Chase Moran is scored your winner with Will Hull and Matt Hoyt joining him in victory lane in that order. Jacob Williams and Scott Holcomb completed the top five. The Sprint Cars of New England will return to the Ridge on July 20th.
The Pellerin Pro Fours made their trip to the Ridge with their sponsor. Taylor Stark takes home the checkers and the trophy with Tim Davis and Shane Stygles joining him in victory lane.
