DJ Robinson back in victory lane in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds along with Thomas Placey in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes.
Event # two of the 55th consecutive season of racing at the Ridge.
For Immediate Release BRS-05212022-1
Once again, the fans were afforded some of the best short track dirt racing in New England with an over flowing pit of cars on hand to take to the famed quarter mile clay oval nestled in the hills of Vermont. Well over a hundred competitors were finally able to get their feet muddy after last weeks rain out, put the fans on the edge of their seats throughout the night.
The Ron’s Fix It Shop feature winners of the 55th consecutive racing season were DJ Robinson in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Thomas Placey in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; USAC DMA Midgets Josh Sunn, R&L Auto Towing and Recovery Late Models Ryan Christian, LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Lucas Wheeler, Peanuts Auto LLC Ridge Runners Feature #1 Randy Morrill Feature #2 Devon Spinks.
The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds come to the quarter mile clay oval with a very impressive car count with twenty-four competitors looking to master the clay and make it to victory lane. The competition in this division gets tougher every year as drivers continue to hone their skills and let the top guns know it can be anyone to make it to victory lane. Tonight, there would be some faces that have been there before, but maybe not as many times as others, and it was good to see their smiling faces. DJ Robinson, who some weeks just can’t get a break, had the stars align perfectly for him tonight as he took the lead early and was able to hold off the hard fought challenges of Ryan Christian and Richie Simmons. Christian and Simmons would cross the line second and third respectfully. Robert Tucker and Todd Buckwold completed the top five.
Thomas Placey won a race early in the season in 2021 and then had a dry spell coming back late mid-season to win two back-to-back events in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. He is hoping to not have that dry spell again and would very much like to make it back-to-back wins to close out the month of May. Coming from mid pack he would take over the lead from Ricky Sanville who was the man to beat leading over have the event. Placey sailed on for the win with Sanville holding on to second, beating off the challenges of Tim Hodge, who crossed the line and claimed the final victory lane spot in third. Tad Kingsbury coming from the last qualifying spot by virtue of his win in the last event is scored in fourth with Jason Horniak taking home fifth.
It been six years since a Manafort machine has been in victory lane in the USAC DMA Midgets with a feature win. Making this one extra special. Josh Sunn took the lead on lap four and never looked back on the field as he sailed in for the win and his favorite spot on the track. Sunn held of Justin Sheridan and Seth Carlson who joined him in victory lane finishing 2nd and third. Will Hull and Brandon Piastka completed the top five.
The USAC DMA Midgets will return to racing action on Saturday June 4th.
Ryan Christian makes it to victory lane twice doing double duty first in the R & L Auto Towing & Recovery Late Models as he dominates the field getting the win by beating out Todd Dunham and last week’s feature winner Matt Lashua. Tyler Tremblay and Parker Piper completed the top five.
Lucas Wheeler continues to ride high in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks making it two wins in a row, strongly stating his desire to finally get the coveted crown of the division at the end of the season. Coming from the last qualified position as is the way with the handicapping he worked his way to the front to take the lead and ultimately the win beating out Jesse Dunham who hitched a ride on Wheelers rear bumper as they worked their way thru the field. Mike Mann was able to hold on to the third-place spot joining the two in victory lane. Kaleb Shepard and Mike McClay rounded out the top five.
The LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks will be off Saturday May 28th returning to action on June 4th.
The Peanuts Auto LLC Ridge Runners with strong car count are afforded two features, to help the competitors get more experience and more opportunities to make it victory lane. Feature one was awarded to Randy Morrill as he crosses the line ahead of rookie Hayden Tomlinson and Tim Morrill. Dilyn Switser and Greg Crews completed the top five. Feature two saw Devon Spinks crossing the line first for the checkers with Kevin LaForest taking second and Spencer Braley in third. Chris Odell and Logan Martin finished the top five.
