BRADFORD, VT – Bond Auto Parts night means MADNESS night for the mighty mods, which means extra money on the line for the full field of cars. With over $6000 and double points on the line the ground stomping machines hit the track for three thirty lap segments. Money and double points can do strange things to a driver, and tonight was no exception. There was plenty of hard racing and physical contact from bent fenders to a roll over, but at the end of the third segment all but three cars would cross the line for the final checkers of the night. Robert Tucker got to claim the point for segment one with his twenty six lap contribution. Tucker was able to hold off the hard fought challenges of Gary Siemons who had his best performance in several weeks. A flip by Mike Gendron in turn one brought the field to a red stop early in the event. Gendron’s crew worked feverously throughout the remaining laps of the event and were able to get him back on the track on the last lap. This gleamed him the spot of point for the second segment which is established from the finish of the cars on the track from the prior segment, inverted. Coming home third was Jordan Fornwalt with Adam Pierson and Richie Simmons rounding out the top five. The second segment was all about Gendron, with his chance a redemption from the first event and DJ Robinson. DJ assumed the lead on lap ten and never looked back as he claimed the second checkers. Adam Pierson would get by Gendron on lap twenty to claim second with Gendron holding on to third. Kevin Chaffee and Derrik Graham completed the top five. The final segment inverted from segment two saw Steve Bell on the pole for three laps. On lap four Tom Forward took over the lead with son TC Forward in tow. The two would battle it out with TC taking the point away from dad on lap eight holding on until lap fifteen when Richie Simmons took over the point having worked thru traffic from the middle of the pack. When the checkers waived it was Simmons on the point with Robert Tucker in second and Kevin Chaffee in third. Josh Currier and Mike Gendron completed the top five.
The Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes went from green to checkers to oh my god will they ever get it done. Several cautions slowed there thirty lap event making several wonder if there was a full moon behind the heavily overcast skies. While some hope for the money some hope for the wins and by lap six Earl the Squirrel had taken the lead and set his sights on his second win of the year. Surviving the several restarts Maxham held on for the win with Melvin Pierson and Teddy Solamaa joining him in victory lane. The wily veteran and point leader Bob Shepard finished four with Jason Colbeth grabbing fifth.
The Manafort stable continue to dominate in the USAC DMA Midgets with the three stable cars leading all but one lap. Jeff Champagne led the first seven with Josh Sunn taking the point over on lap eight. Sunn looked poised to be grabing his second of the win as he would continue to hold the point holding off the challenges of Champagne and Scott Holcomb, who was able to grab it once during Sunn’s seventeen lap reighn. Sunn reclaimed the lead with team mate Adam Pierson hot on his tail. Pierson make the move on the only lap that matters to lead and stole the win from Sunn on the final lap. Sunn crossed the line in a disappointing second with Chris Donnelly coming home in the final victory lane spot. Holcomb found himself back in fourth with Champagne falling back to fifth.
In the Crazy Ed’s Limited Late Models Matt Lashua just can’t get a break coming once again from the back of the pack. Lashua set his sights on the lead by lap four. Tim Martin had grabbed it on lap two, and the two of them duked it out for the remaining 18 laps. Martin claimed the win with Lashua falling back to third when a last lap bonsi-move cost him the bridesmaid spot. James Fadden took the second spot from Lashua with David Stearns and Travis Smith rounding out the top five.
The Weglarz Property Service/F.M.S. Auto Parts Four Cylinders ended the night before the heavy rains came. Mike Ryan coming from mid pack was able to grab the lead and go on for his fourth win of the season. Justin Severance continues to be strong comes across the line second with Jesse Durkee coming home in third. Matt Boucher and Robert Welch completed the top five.
