Interstate Battery of Newmont/JTB Towing & Recovery Results
Repeat winners in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes defying the attempts of Mother Nature rain shorten the event.
For Immediate Release BRS-080115-1
BRADFORD, VT – Mother Nature tried and failed to wash out the show on Interstate Battery of Newmont/JTB Towing & Recovery Night, but promoter CV Elms wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Half way thru the features a strong shower arrived for about 20 minutes, an hour after it had stopped fast action resumed for some great edge of your seat racing on the ¼ Bear Ridge Speedway clay oval.
The Granite State Mini Sprints were on hand for their Lenny West Memorial Event. Twenty one cars took to the field in honor of Lenny West. In the 500 cc’s lady luck was finally on his side, as Bob Griffin having struggled to figure out these mini beasts was finally able to capture the win the first in his career. Joining him in victory lane were Matt Hoyt and Brett Warren. In the 600’s Richard Crooker continues to dominate as he claimed yet another win with Kyle Belliveau & Benjamin Bachand joining him in victory lane
In the DIRTcar Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds Mike Gendron is able to join the elite club of multiple wins for season, as he claimed the checkers on the fast track after the rains. Gendron took the lead away from Gary Siemons and never looked back. Siemons was able to hold on to the runner up spot for only his third visit to the coveted victory lane. Richie Simmons was the lucky third place finisher joining the two in victory lane. Completing the top five were Kevin Chaffee and Derek Graham.
The DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes got their feature in just before the shower came making for an exciting final two laps. The track would stay dry and the checkers were waved with Earl “the Squirrel” Maxham claiming his third win of the season. Coming from midpack to join him in victory lane were Josh Harrington with only his third trip to victory lane for the season, still searching for that first win and Matt Ellsworth. Melvin Pierson and Jonathan Covey finished out the top five.
This coming week Walker Motor Sales John Poor Memorial night is the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupe Madness night and to date the numbers show that they will be going for over $8000.00 in purse money!
The USAC DMA Midgets return to action August 8, 2015.
The Crazy Ed’s Limited Late Models had to features to run, first making up their rained out Dennis Preston Builder night event. Matt Lashua was the big winner finally getting that monkey off his back as he was able to hold off the hard charges of Tim Martin. Martin came home in second with James Fadden grabbing third. In their regular event for the evening, the residual effects of the full moon made for one sild and strange event and finish. A next to last lap caution sent the leader Tim Martin to the pits with a flat tire and the person responsible to the rear. When the dust settled and the tower relined the field for the green checkers finish the person on top was Travis Smith. Smith was able to hold off the rest of the field to claim his first win of the season, a much overdue accomplishment. James Fadden came back to finish second with Martin getting his tire changed and coming back to finish third. Mike Rivers and Matt Boucher completed the top five.
Jesse Durkee and Mike Ryan continue to swap the feature winner and runner up spot in the Weglarz Property Service/F.M.S. Auto Parts Four Cylinders, this week the checkers waved for Durkee his fourth win of the season. Ryan held on to the second place spot with Jacob Roy coming home in third. Justin Severance and Sean Perron rounded out the top five.
