Four new winners in victory lane recognized on Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank night at the Ridge.
The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds have had five different winners in five different weeks proving that this class is full of excellent competition and it is anyone’s week to grab the gold. Tonight, the track had several grooves available making for some edge of your seat racing. Victory lane would have two of its three spots filled by drivers coming from deep in the pack. Todd Fenoff got the point early and held on until mid-way. Coming up the ranks was Jordan Fornwalt and last week’s winner Richie Simmons. As the laps ticked off Fenoff slid back watching his chances of a good finish fade away. Fornwalt on the other hand saw his chancing of having a good finish suddenly there as he was on point and sailed on for his first win of the season. Simmons made it all the way to second but was unable to get by Fornwalt, thus having to settle for the runner up position. Todd Buckwold sailed in for third place with Robert Tucker and Terry Williams rounding out the top five.
Despite his pole starting position Matt Ellsworth will have to wait another week to try for the winning spot in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. Ellsworth strong thru out the race would succumb to the wily veteran Bob Shepard as the laps ticked off. Shepard got by Ellsworth after battling for the position for several laps only to see the caution wave bringing the field to a restart based on the last completed lap. Shepard once again battled it out with Ellsworth and took advantage of the slip up by Ellsworth to get by him once again for the lead. Shepard was able to make it stick this time and cruised on for the win. Ellsworth was able to hold on for the runner up spot with Jeff Robbins coming in third. Danny Doyle and Melvin Pierson rounded out the top five.
Laquerre’s Sports USAC DMA Midgets short on stature with car counts struggling are still able to put on a great show for the fans. Tonight it would be a rookie to show the field how it is done. Derek O’Hearn driving for the Matczak stable got to the point midway thru the event taking the lead away from Jeff Champagne. Champagne struggled to hold on and fell outside the victory spots. Joe Krawiec coming off of his win the last time at the Ridge worked his way to the front of the pack to grab the runner up spot. Veteran Adam Whitney grabbed the final victory lane spot. Dean Christensen and Andrew Barrows rounded out the top five.
The two swapping back and forth for the point this year in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models Ryan Christian and Wayland Childs. Tonight, it would Childs to hold on to the point over Christian when the checkers waved. Toby Stark joined the two in victory lane. Derek Stearns and Brian Campbell completed the top five.
A new face made its way in to victory lane in the Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinders. Sean Perron looking for his first win of the season was strong thru most of the race. A caution bunched up the field and gave the wolves in pursuit a chance to get the chance they needed to take the point away. Dennis Perry would get there first to grab the checkers with Jesse Durkee crossing the line in second. Perron was able to hold on to third his second-best finish of the season. Jason Porter and Robert Welch rounded out the top five.
The Granite State Mini Sprints were on hand with their 500cc and 600cc divisions. Joe Kemp would grab the win in the 500cc’s with William Pinkham and Peter Beliveau joining him in victory lane. Ken Strisburg and Ed Vickery rounded out the top five. In the 600cc’s Kyle Pittman got the win over Drew Eldridge and Dick Lamont.
